Approximate Costs

A working budget based on 2025 prices has been prepared and to cover all activities, accommodation, transport, food and insurance is approximately £1,200 a person for the 10 days. This is more expensive than our standard oversea expeditions however Switzerland is an expensive country. All participants and leaders pay to attend the expedition to keep costs as low as possible to all. We will update this once 2026 prices are available and reforecast.

We hope to bring this down further into the region of £900 to £1,150 through fundraising activities and grant applications. The unit has already pledged a grant of £2000 to offset the cost from unit funds.

A chart showing the expenditure breakdown is below:

Catering

We plan to utilise the KISC food service. Meals are served in the Chalet dining hall. The meals are ‘canteen’ style, with a set main dish and a starter or a dessert.

The Centre has a dining hall that can seat up to 100 people in one sitting and a kitchen equipped to cook for a maximum of 300 guests per meal. All groups staying at KISC can choose some or all of their meals to be catered by the Centre.

They cater for a wide range of special dietary requirements and offer vegetarian, vegan, pollotarian, pescetarian, and carnitarian options on a daily basis.

Breakfast

A buffet-style breakfast that includes a few different types of cereal, yoghurt, fruit, bread, meat and cheese, butter and jam. For a beverage, you can get either water, syrup, tea or coffee. Fruits are available as well.

Lunch

A hot meal with a starter or dessert depending on the day’s menu, and a small salad buffet. For a beverage, you can get either water, syrup, tea or coffee. Fruits are available as well.

Dinner

A hot meal with a starter or dessert depending on the day’s menu, and a small salad buffet. For a beverage, you can get either water, syrup, tea or coffee. Fruits are available as well.

Fundraising

All expedition members will be expected to partake in fundraising and grant applications to bring the cost of the expedition down for all. This may include Summer Fetes, Christmas Fairs, Quiz Nights, Race Nights, etc through 2025 and 2026.

The table below shows an indication of how fundraising / grants will reduce the cost for 30 participants.
