Shackleton ESU is proud to announce that Harry Ball has been awarded Explorer of the Year. Since joining the unit, Harry has demonstrated remarkable growth, determination, and spirit, making him a truly deserving recipient of this recognition. From the beginning, he embraced feedback with a positive attitude, using it as an opportunity to develop into a valued and effective team player. His energy and motivation are evident in everything he does, and he consistently approaches new challenges with enthusiasm and commitment.
Harry has also provided outstanding support to the leadership team. He is always willing to assist, take on responsibilities, and encourage those around him. Over his time at Shackleton ESU, his confidence has grown significantly, and he has developed from a keen participant into a role model for his peers. His encouragement and support ensure that no one is left behind, helping to build an inclusive and welcoming environment within the unit. His determination, teamwork, and personal growth set him apart as an exceptional Explorer, and it is with great pride that we recognise him as Explorer of the Year.
In addition to Harry’s award, we are delighted to congratulate Clair, one of our leaders, who has received the Chief Scout’s Commendation for Good Service. Clair has played an instrumental role in the growth and development of Shackleton ESU, supporting Explorers as they progress into young adulthood and guiding them through key experiences such as Duke of Edinburgh expeditions. Her commitment has extended across a wide range of activities, including the Downsman, training weekends, and camps, where she has given her time and energy to provide opportunities for all members.
Clair’s dedication, encouragement, and enthusiasm have had a lasting impact on the unit, helping to inspire and shape the Explorers in her care. The Chief Scout’s Commendation for Good Service is a fitting recognition of her exceptional contribution, and we are proud to celebrate this achievement alongside Harry’s success.
